Firstly I can't believe i've been in braces for OVER A YEAR! Crazzzzy.
Moving on to today, I was finally given a new wire :) yay! Also my OD has gone off on long term sickness :( so i've been moved over to someone else. Luckily he knows all my history, as he put it i'm an 'interesting case' so hopefully I won't be moved around any more. I definitely prefer having one person do all my treatment, you feel like they know you and can accommodate for your needs better than some random person.
I had some moulds (molds?) taken, I hate that purple gunk so much, gets caught in all the wrong places. I also had it all over my face - attractive - and was kindly given a tissue and a mirror so I could clean myself up before I left. The OD said they're going to have a look and see how everything is lining up. If it's all looking good then it's time to start planning my surgery!!!!!!!! I am so excited!
Hopefully buying a new camera tomorrow so photos should be up soon, i'm really bad at taking them
Hi Beth! It really is crazy that we've been in braces for so long. Glad things are progressing, it always feels like such an accomplishment to get a new wire. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteheyy amanda! you are much further along the journey than i am, can't believe your surgery is almost here! i'm looking forward to following your progress and hopefully i can take some tips for when i finally get round to the big day :)
DeleteHey :) Really interesting blog :) Just wondering (and completely out of perspective); what are you doing at uni? XD ohh and which one uni are you at? :P Having a wee shuffle around the UK at the moment and trying to pick one :P Ohh and its nice to read another UK blog apart from Rosa's :)
ReplyDeleteim doing english and media at edge hill (near liverpool basically) its quite a pain going backwards and forwards for appointments! there isnt many uk blogs really we're definitely a minority!
DeleteHi Beth, congratulations on passing the one year mark and the good news about planning your surgery! Did your OD give you any hint as to how much longer it will be?
ReplyDeleteI'm coming up to 4 months and hitting the year mark seems quite a way away yet! Any tips for surviving this long journey? x
p.s Just read through your earlier posts and discovered you go to Edge Hill, I used to go to Edge Hill, I graduated in 09, what a small world!
DeleteI did a performing arts degree so was in the big theatre building at the front. How are you finding life in Ormskirk? x
omg natasha i cannot believe you went to edge hill, that really is a small word haha! its 50/50 really sometimes i like living in a smaller town but its not good for shopping, however i love that everything is on one campus makes it much more convenient :) how did you find it?
Deletegoing back to our teeth im aiming for a summer 2013 surgery but i really have no idea at the minute, im seeing my ortho next month and i should have a cleary picture of the next step then. for me the time has really flew over and i think thats down to being so busy, moving out of home and starting my degree etc. staying positive and thinking of the future definitely helps!
Hahaha, I know so weird! I used to work in the bargain booze while I was there (both of them lol). Ormy is a strange little town, I found that the residents didn't really like the students being there but I couldn't see how the town centre and most of the other retail shops would survive without the students.
DeleteShopping is rubbish really but Liverpool isn't too far on the train, I did most of my shopping there, gotta love the huuuge Primark!
I had a mixed time at uni, my course was a brand new course so it had quite a few teething problems to start off with and was a bit un-organised, the library had virtually none of the books from our reading list, our tutor left at the start of the first year and wasn't replaced till the 2nd, so just things like that annoyed me that the uni offered the course but were clearly not ready for us. But it got there in the end and I got my degree.
Must be such a pain to travel back all the time for appointments. Your right having something to focus on and staying positive does help! xoxo
It's weird like sometimes I like being in a smaller town but I miss being able to go out to different places in one night rather than just going to one place (alpine!)
DeleteI've had no trouble with my course luckily, apart from a timetable clash which got sorted and I've got a nice tutor which always helps.
Yeah it's definitely a pain, my next appointment is on the 15th and i'm having to miss a seminar because there was no other space available but hopefully he will be understanding!
Hey beth, I just came across your blog (I am getting braces on November 5th and starting my way to surgery) you are soo lucky that you get to start when you are a bit younger lol how long did you find it took for your teeth to start moving when your braces got put on?
ReplyDeleteHi cassie, good luck for getting your braces on! To be honest I still feel quite old, some of my friends had braces when we were in school so I definitely feel a bit behind haha! I found my teeth started moving straight away, like probably within the first week I could see some movement. It gets worse the longer it goes on, I used to feel some pain after my adjustments which I liked because you know things are moving, but my progress seems to have slowed right down in the last few months.
